A Proud Moment: Tyrone L. Haynes and Mac Miller’s “Balloonerism”

Today marks a monumental occasion for fans of the late rapper Mac Miller: the official release of *Balloonerism,* a full-length album originally created in 2014. While the album remained unreleased for years, it was a deeply personal project for Mac, who even commissioned cover art to accompany the music. Now, thanks to the hard work of many, the world will finally experience *Balloonerism* as Mac intended—and I couldn’t be prouder of my brother, Tyrone L. Haynes, for playing a key role in bringing this project to life.

Tyrone is a commercial litigator by profession, but his passions extend far beyond the courtroom. A longtime admirer of visual art and photography, he was captivated by the Afro-Surrealist work of Alim Smith, the Delaware-based artist behind the stunning promotional art for *Atlanta’s* third season. What began as Tyrone commissioning a small piece from Alim for his personal collection turned into an incredible journey when Alim reached out for legal guidance on a contract with Mac Miller’s estate.

Despite not being a contract lawyer by trade, Tyrone stepped in to ensure Alim’s stunning artwork—commissioned by Mac himself—could rightfully adorn the album cover. His dedication and willingness to help, paired with Alim’s immense talent, resulted in a cover that perfectly represents Mac’s legacy.

Today, as fans press play on *Balloonerism,* they’ll be greeted by Alim Smith’s art—a powerful tribute to Mac Miller’s artistry and vision. Knowing my brother was a part of this moment fills me with immense pride.

Look for *Balloonerism* on all platforms starting January 17. The cover art is as unforgettable as the music itself—a true testament to the magic of collaboration.
