West Hollywood hotspot, 1OAK LA was the hub for celebrity celebrations this past weekend.
Saturday night, Kendrick Lamar continued his 30th birthday celebration performing for the first time ever in a nightclub. Fellow TDE artist, Schoolboy Q was spotted in VIP with French Montana, Jaime Foxx, A$AP Rocky, Belly, Pusha T, Wale and star athletes Kyrie Irving and Odell Beckham Jr.
Grammy award winning songstress Lana Del Rey and friends kicked off the celebratory weekend Thursday night as they took over Hollywood hotspot 1OAK LA for a massive private 32nd birthday blowout. Del Rey partied all night by the DJ booth with friends and fellow musicians Robin Thicke, Nelly, French Montana, Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd, Mike Will Made It and Boi-1da, who collaborated with her on Lust For Life, Del Rey’s upcoming fourth studio album.
Paris Hilton was spotted nearby sipping Perrier-Jouët with boyfriend Chris Zylka. Actress Bella Thorne and Scott Disick arrived following dinner at CATCH LA, swirling romance rumors yet again. The couple kept close throughout the night and made a swift exit hand in hand. Kylie Jenner, who arrived in an orange Lamborghini hung with friend and Roc Nation artist, Justine Skye.

Leave it Kendrick Lamar to properly celebrate Black History Month. On the heels of his silent Grammy wins, Kendrick released ’The Blacker The Berry,’ a track that openly criticizes the social injustice that African-Americans have endured since slavery. The song is a proven release of frustration that is bound to turn heads and encourage new discourse about the state of Black America. You feel the rage and wrath of K.Dot, yet couldn’t be more proud of this moment. Take a listen to the track below and be mind blown by this generation’s Tupac.
We thought Chris Brown were having issues but Chris’ new video ‘Autumn Leaves’ tells a whole different story. In the video for the record that features Kendrick Lamar, the couple takes it back to ancient Chinese times as Karrueche plays a geisha and Chris is some sort of samurai-weilding ninja. Enjoy the video below.
This past summer, K.Dot premiered his short film ‘m.A.A.d.’ at Sundance NEXT Festival and it was received well. It was enjoyed so much that the film, directed by Khalil Joseph, will be an exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in 2015. The 14-minute documentary was directly inspired by Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city album in 2012. A statement describing the film on the museum website reads:
“Kahlil Joseph’s double-screen projection m.A.A.d is a lush portrait of contemporary Los Angeles. From barbershops to marching bands, from homeboys drinking in the streets to the iconic carpet of shimmering lights, the camera in m.A.A.d sinuously glides through predominantly African American neighborhoods in Los Angeles catching a dizzying array of quotidian moments suffused with creativity, joy, and sadness. Joseph’s film is accompanied by a thick booming soundtrack provided by emerging hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar and indeed m.A.A.d is part of the title of Lamar’s highly acclaimed second album Good Kid m.A.A.d. City.”
The exhibit will run from March 21 to July 17 of next year. For tickets, visit MOCA.com.
K.Dot will be coming back to New York this Saturday night to co-host SNL with Woody Harrelson and perform as the musical guest. We can look forward to Kendrick flexing his comedy skills and maybe even performing a new song from his upcoming album. Watch the SNL promo clips for this week below and tune in Saturday night.
K.Dot is giving us something to vibe to with his long-awaited video for ‘i.’ Kendrick jams in the video, dancing to his own little two-step and chilling with Mr. Ron Isley himself. The video puts listeners and viewers in a cool, laid-back party mood but still makes you want to move a little. Everybody in the visual is having a great time in each setting that carries us through a possibly typical night with Kendrick Lamar. He even throws in an extra verse for this version of the song. Kendrick always seems to have something different up his sleeve. Vibe along to the video posted below.
The NBA is using K.Dot’s newly released single as the soundtrack for the 2014-15 season. The single samples The Isley Brothers’ “Who’s That Lady,” and will be featured in promotional videos for the season with appearances from NBA ballers Carmelo Anthony, James Harden, LeBron James, and Dirk Nowitzki, He will also perform “i” at the NBA/TNT concert on Thursday, October 30.
K. Dot was a surprise guest Thursday for the educational event that was held at the Air Canada Centre. There were over 20,000 students, educators, and guests were on hand for the event that were able to witness him perform his newest single ‘i’ for the first time.
