HBO DECLARES JULY 9TH THE DAY OF THE DEFIANT ONES

LAUNCHING EPIC DOCUMENTARY SERIES WITH A BLAZING BROOKLYN EVENT

HBO hosted an exclusive Brooklyn launch event to celebrate The Defiant Ones – a film by Allen Hughes – with special guests and featured performances from 2Chainz, Cakes Da Killa, Electric Punanny (Jasmine Solano + Melo X), Jillionaire, Kali Uchis, Lizzo, and Vince Staples.

The Defiant Ones is a four-part documentary series that tells the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Dr.Dre – one the son of a Brooklyn longshoreman, the other straight out of Compton. The series explores their improbable partnership and surprising leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture.

The Defiant Ones premiered Sunday, July 9, only on HBO—all four parts will be made available early for streaming exclusively on HBO NOW, HBO GO and affiliate portals as well as on HBO On Demand.

New Official ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Movie Trailer Released

A few months ago at a show in Australia, Ice Cube teased a trailer for his upcoming N.W.A. biopic ’Straight Outta Compton,’ and had everyone talking. This week, Cube and his friend Dr. Dre released the official trailer for their film, and by the looks of it, it’s going to be great! The trailer is filled with action, protests and history, with the lead roles being portrayed by the sons of the the original members. The film is set to hit theaters August 14, 2015. NWA Biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Movie Trailer Released

While performing a concert in Sydney, Australia, Ice Cube debuted the movie trailer for the NWA biopic that has been in the works for the past few years. Directed by F. Gary Gray and with Dr. Dre and Ice Cube as the executive producers, we’re sure this film will be nothing short of amazing. Starring in the film is none other than the sons of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy-E. O’Shea Jackson Jr., Jason Mitchell, and Corey Hawkins have been working very hard to bring their dad’s story back to life for the sake of hip-hop history. The movie won’t hit theaters until August 2015 but in the meanwhile, check out the trailer below and prepare for the epicness that will hit the box office next summer.
