The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) — the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization — held its 2019 HRC Houston Dinner at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Houston. Headline speakers included Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Chasten Buttigieg, husband of Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg. Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana is the first openly LGBTQ elected official to run for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The 2019 HRC Houston Gala brought together HRC’s most active members and supporters in the greater Houston area to raise crucial funds in the fight for LGBTQ equality. Additional special guests at the event included Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, actor Guillermo Diaz, singer Shea Diamond, Leadership Award recipient Ian Barrett and Community Equality Award recipient Julie Mabry.
