Diddy Covers Vanity Fair / Blasts Industry For Lack Of Investment In Black Businesses

Diddy, recently spoke with Vanity Fair and vented about how show-business’ fascination with Black culture has yet to translate into investment into Black enterprise. He also talked about his Revolt network, the #MeToo movement, his next move, + more

Via Variety:
Combs on hip-hop’s commercial dominance, especially through streaming: “You have these record companies that are making so much money off our culture, our art form, but they’re not investing or even believing in us,” .
On the industry lacking black executives in top-level positions: “For all the billions of dollars that these black executives have been able to make them, [there’s still hesitation] to put them in the top-level positions. They’ll go and they’ll recruit cats from overseas,” he continues. “It makes sense to give [executives of color] a chance and embrace the evolution, instead of it being that we can only make it to president, senior VP. … There’s no black CEO of a major record company. That’s just as bad as the fact that there are no [black] majority owners in the NFL. That’s what really motivates me.”

The star-studded birthday affair for Thomas Henry Jr. was held at the radically transformed Hotel Discotheque lounge in San Antonio this past weekend. As in usual tradition with the Henry’s decadent celebrations, art, fashion, and celebrity performers were just a few of the innovative elements of the opulent affair, which was produced by television-acclaimed, celebrity production designer Dylan Marer. 

Marer and his team from Hollywood transformed the venue to transport guests to a modern Gatsby-esque world all its own, complete with floor-to-ceiling decor, art installations, aerial performers, burlesque showgirls, provocateurs dancing in birdcages, and contortionists swimming in oversized martini glasses. The venue boasted a cigar and whisky lounge and a one-of-a-kind ice bar experience. Guests were treated to a carefully-curated tasting menu which included a lobster and caviar bar while world-class mixologists prepared whimsical libations. In classic Gatsby fashion, the champagne flowed all night.

Lil’ Yachty and Bravado will launch Yachty’s Pizzeria, a pop-up pizzeria concept by Lil Yachty that will take over Famous Ben’s Pizzeria this weekend in New York City. The Atlanta-born artist will offer New Yorkers a unique opportunity to enjoy a legendary slice while shopping limited-edition exclusive merchandise inspired by Yachty’s Pizzeria.  The pop-up will offer six styles available for purchase, including a short sleeve tee for $30, long sleeve tee for $40, hoodie for $60, satin bomber jacket for $100, hat for $30, and a refrigerator magnet for $5.

No word on whether they will be available online yet.

Celebrity cameos are expected — Trina and Monica have already taped — and Gucci’s performance with Fifth Harmony at the VMAs later this month will be included too.
We broke the story … the rapper and his fiancee scored a fat contract for their BET show, which conveniently includes their wedding costs.

Food icons Anne Burrell and Rachael Ray return to lead a star-studded culinary boot camp for cooking-challenged celebrities this summer with a brand-new season of Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition, premiering Wednesday, August 23rd at 9pm ET/PT on Food Network.  Anne and Rachael each lead a team of recruits through the intense kitchen challenges, but only the most improved star wins a $25,000 grand prize for the charity of their choice and bragging rights for their team master.  The new celebrity recruits are: Nora Dunn, Carmen Electra, Erik Estrada, Vivica A.
