Earlier this week, Chris Rock filed for divorce from his wife of 19 years, Malaak Compton-Rock. We had hope that this wouldn’t be one of those drama-filled divorces, but we know better than to believe very few Hollywood divorces go through easily and without the spouses pointing the finger at each other. Now that documents are becoming public in the Rock divorce, we can see that the drama is about to flood. Chris is accusing his wife of preventing him from seeing their two daughters, Lola and Zahara . A statement released from TMZ details more about the impending divorce:
Rock acknowledges they had a prenup when they married in 1996 — but says it’s expired because they’ve been together for just over 18 years. The split has been in the works for at least a month. In the docs, Rock says back in November they identified all the community property to be split up once they divorce. Interestingly … Rock points out Malaak has the “ability to work and contribute to her own support” — which sounds like he’s angling to reduce any spousal support payments.
No one can say they saw this coming from Chris Rock as he has always seemed to have a wonderful family life. We wish the Rock family the best throughout this time.
