Creative Recreation FA17 Hits the Streets

Creative Recreation’s Fall 2017 collection is inspired by young creatives who strive to leave their mark on the world. Launching July 6th, the line will be available in male and female silhouettes, which prioritize the brand’s core belief that creativity matters.

“Creative Recreation has always been about embracing the creative community,” said Vance Hayes, President and General Manager of Creative Recreation. “This Fall campaign is an evolution of the creative spirit that continues to move our brand forward. We have embraced working with a variety of different individuals that are in the spirit of our core values.”

Each of the six distinct personalities embody a unique blend of artistic backgrounds, helping organically define the latest evolution of the footwear brand. For their Fall 2017 line, Creative Recreation turns their attention toward rising creatives as they push the boundaries of their craft.

Up first is San Diego native Rob $tone, who first shook hip-hop fans with his debut single, “Chill Bill,” which debuted in the US Billboard Hot 100. In September 2016, $tone released his second mixtape, which he is currently touring the country with.

Leaf, a fashion-forward rapper who recently signed with Fool’s Gold Records/RPM MSC, reaches the female fans of Creative Recreation via her compelling lyrics and contemporary perspective of feminism, anime and genre-blending hip-hop. This powerful Brooklyn native released her debut EP in 2015, and has since collaborated with Lil Yachty and Action Bronson. Today, she works to counteract demeaning hip-hop lyrics by writing her own dynamic tracks. Leaf has been drawn to the diversity of the Fall 2017 line, commenting “I think most girls recreate themselves every time they step out of the door. Every morning you wake up and you want to be something new.”

Dreezy completes this roster with her truly inspirational rise to success. The “Princess of Chicago Rap” grew up on the South Side and studied fine arts and songwriting to help overcome the adversities of growing up in the rough neighborhood she called home. Today, Dreezy has released multiple albums, mixtapes, and singles.

Sampa The Great

Sampa The Great was Born in Zambia, raised in Botswana and is currently based in Sydney, Australia. She is part of the emerging hiphop scene in there (The Guardian called her “Australian hiphop’s next great hope”) and HERoes Act 2 is the latest in Sampa’s exciting narrative series of songs and collaborative project that includes her debut The Great Mixtape

With creative influences that include Mos Def and Lauryn Hill, the 23-year-old Sampa The Great  is quickly creating her own musical path, with lyrics centered on issues close to her heart. She found a love for hip-hop at an early age and views music as the language of the soul, transcending borders and acting as an agent for positive change.  It’s a quality that is consistent throughout her debut release, The Great Mixtape, on which Sampa delicately entwines her poetry in each beat, playfully switching styles and engaging listeners on every level.

Born in Zambia, at a young age Sampa Tembo and her family decided to move to Botswana, where she was raised.  Separating Sampa from her peers is the upbringing and life experiences that inform her lyrics. Once, a group of boys were set to perform a rap song at her primary school. She was intrigued by their performance and asked if she could join the group, the response: “You can’t rap with us, because you’re a girl.” From that moment forward she decided not only to be a great female artist, but a great artist period.

Sampa The Great’s new EP, HERoes Act 2, is out with Red Bull Sound Select. The 3 tracks on the EP all feature Estelle with production by Rahki.

[CONCERT SERIES] Yellow Claw Conquers Space City

Our peeps in L.A. hit us and asked us to Drop in on Yellow Claw Saturday night in support of their sophomore effort Los Amsterdam. The mood was electric as we walked through the parking lot, and ran into a couple hundred fans buzzing with anticipation as they anxiously waited to get in the building. The heady performance was kicked off with a spectacular light show underscored by heart pounding, pulse quickening beats. Jim Aasgier and Nizzle masterfully controlled the crowd’s mood and energy as if it were an instrument in and of itself.  They artfully stoked the rising tide of excitement until it could no longer be contained and it erupted; unleashing  holy hell in Houston’s Stereo Live, leaving the crowd drenched in sweat and tingling as if released from the grip of gravity to be carried off into the weightlessness of space (city).

Los Amsterdam features the TOP 10 Billboard Dance Chart hit “Good Day (feat. DJ Snake + Elliphant).” LP also features collaborations with Juicy J, Quavo of Migos, Lil Debbie, Moski, Jonna Fraser, Rochelle, Tinie Tempah and Cesqeaux, and the pair have accumulated over 470+ million streams on Spotify and 415+ million plays on YouTube to date….as you can see, the show was lit🔥

Puff Daddy Kicks Off Billboard Weekend at LIGHT Nightclub

For the first time ever, Puff Daddy invaded Las Vegas hotspot, LIGHT where he hosted the evening for thousands of Saturday night partygoers. Arriving with son, Justin Combs, and entourage in tow, Puffy headed to the stage where he was presented with a Cîroc bottle parade.

The music mogul transformed the nightclub into a birthday celebration of the late Biggie Smalls. The crowd erupted when he jumped on stage and did the infamous Puffy dance to Small’s hits like “Juicy” and “Hypnotize”. Puffy hopped on the mic and lead the crowd in a Happy Birthday song before joking about partying all night and not sleeping until the Billboard awards. Following his performance, Puff Daddy hung out in VIP as the DJ kept playing Biggie’s classic songs until the early morning.

Earlier that night, hip hop artist OT Genesis, hit the stage where he performed his top hits “Cut It” and “Push It”. The Miami artist, who was dripping in diamonds stopped his performance to take selfies with fans. Other celebs in attendance were award winning DJ and Producer, Metro Boomin, Darius Walker and Candice King of Vampire Diaries who was celebrating her birthday in a nearby VIP.

[REVIEW] Curious About Kurios?

Kurios is sexy enough for a hot new date, but fun and eye-catching enough for the entire family.

This is not your ordinary clowns coming out of tiny cars, large animals tamed by a whip, or white faced mimes clowning around kinda circus.

This show is sleek and tantalizing; delivering a dream-like glimpse into the inside of the Seeker’s (mad scientist) imagination. Through the Seeker’s exhaustive imaginings we’re able to see acrobats, gymnasts, contortionists, singers, jugglers and more go back and forth in time with a futuristic steam punk flair.

There is even a little person, Mini Lili, that lives inside of another character’s belly (Microcosmos)..

Would you think a finger show would keep your attention? Ha! Theater of hands will do just that. Multiple hands take us through a lifetime worth of events in minutes. The mini-dramas are projected onto a cloud.

I have to say my favorite performance is of the group of fish a.k.a female contortionist bending and twisting on a giant hand.

Each scene and performance is completely unexpected and delightfully unusual. You will definitely leave with an expanded imagination and tons to talk about. There was so much more to see, and we know you’re Kurios, but we won’t ruin it for you.
